Saddest of news.

There it is.  All finished.  Just waiting for the pulls that are arriving tomorrow.

It has been a very long process.  I first painted it the dark pink after which I decided to switch up the way I did the design...which required the entire dresser be repainted the light pink.  Then I spent forever taping it.  When the super sticky paint tape wasn't quite sticky enough to grab every I waited forever to start the next step because I didn't want to find out that my design wouldn't be possible.  I wrote earlier that this might be the biggest craft fail of my life.  When I got tired of it taking up space in my dining room I started painting and was pleasantly surprised that the tape did a better job than I expected.  Touch ups went more smoothly than expected. The sealing was painless as well.  Thank God the last few steps went so smoothly.  If they hand't been this next bit of news would have been much much harder to take.

We are having Sean's birthday party next weekend so the dresser has to be moved so I can clean this week.  Today is the day for moving.......I just found out that the dresser will not fit up EITHER of our stairwells.

I know.  I can't believe it.  I never thought it wouldn't fit.  We have tried everything.  Sean says the only way it will go up is if we cut it in pieces and glue it back together.

Too bad this dresser isn't from Ikea.

I don't know what I am going to do yet.  I am trying to figure out where to put it downstairs but I am doubtful there is a home for it there.  So sad.

Awesome table DIY

I went so hard making gifts over the holidays that I have spent the past two months in a creative slump.  I have ideas.  I lack motivation.  I swear I am still catching up on sleep and energy from Christmas.  Man is it an exhausting holiday with children.

My creative juices have been revving up over the past week or so...hence finally working on this dresser that I started ages ago...when it was warm out.  I am ready to go.  I just got two enormous boxes of fabric in the mail from this great fabric shop also known as my Mom's surplus.  I found this awesome pull/knob combo that I am going to put on something in the near future.  And then this happened:

I saw it on my friend Kim's pinterest page and I might have to try it.  I haven't seen an Ikea hack that interested me this much since this hack that I loved to much I copied it exactly.  What a transformation.  It seems relatively simple too!  The best part?  I already have this exact table sitting in my garage.

Watch out blog...you are going to get some use again.

A monogram I can get behind.

I have such mixed feelings about monograms.  Sometimes I like them.  Most of the time I just don't get them.  I think the overall effect of a monogram is attractive but it doesn't fit into my life for some reason.

I did some reading about the history of monograms to try and understand why everything (EVERYTHING) is monogrammed.  In a few words here is what I learned.  Monograms were first used to identify the cities where Greek and Roman coins originated.  Then royalty used them.  Then craftsmen and artists began signing their work with them.  Then Victorian era society people let you know how uppity they were with monograms.  Now....now they are everywhere.  Bags. Pillows. Bathroom towels.  Pendants.  Nice evolution.  So.  All of that is good to know.  I still don't understand why we monogram everything. Do you?  Help.

Anyway...here is a really cute monogrammed thing.

If only I had known!

via

I had known these drawer pulls exist I would have painted my dresser so that I could use them.  Oh the regret.
As soon as I get this dresser finished (only one more coat of sealer to go and adding pulls!!) I am going to find a piece that I can put these tortoise shell pulls and/or knobs on.  My mouth is watering and my heart is racing.  I don't think this is a normal reaction.

Breaking the silence.

This is too good not to pass on.

I saw it on The Southern Eclectic (one of my fav blogs) but I am not sure where it originates from.  Although it is hard to find a feature of this necklace I do not like, the way the casings don't fit the stones exactly is the best part in my opinion.
